Visa requirements for Cambodia
Note: Due to the Corona pandemic, no tourist visas are currently available for Cambodia – more information is available on the Travel and Safety Information subpage.
The visa regulations are kept very pleasant and simple, especially for Western tourists. Basically, only a passport with a validity of at least 6 months upon entry and three free pages in the passport are required. In addition, a passport photo should be carried, which must not be older than 12 months. At some border crossings, however, digital photos can be taken in the meantime.

Citizens of ASEAN countries and other countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos, Singapore and the Philippines) do not need a tourist visa and can spend between 14 and 30 days in Cambodia.
There are different visa types in Cambodia with the main types being the tourist visa (T) and the business visa (E). An “eVisa” is not a business visa but an electronically (e) issued tourist visa.
Most visas are available as Visa on Arrival, i.e. directly at the border.
Tourist Visa (Type T)
A tourist visa is available as a visa on arrival, at the embassy or online as an eVisa. It costs about 30 USD and is valid for 30 days. It can be easily extended for another 30 days within the country. The cost of this is about 50 USD including local travel agency fees. Only one entry is possible with the tourist visa.
For a passport photo at the border you may have to pay another 5 USD.
There is only one official site for applying online, www.evisa.gov.kh. All other sites charge enormous fees and it is unclear what else is done with the passport data.
Business Visa (Type E)
The business visa is also available as a visa on arrival or in an embassy. The first period of validity is always 30 days after entry. The advantage of the business visa is the possibility of extension for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months. Multiple entry and exit is also possible with this visa (from a validity period of 6 months). The price is about 30 USD per month plus the fees for the travel agency or visa agent
There are subcategories of type E visa as follows: EB (Business), ER (Retired), EG (General), EP (Job Seeking), ES (Student), ET (Technician). The requirements for these visas vary constantly, but an EB visa is usually readily available.
Khmer Visa (Type K)
Cambodians with a foreign passport or children of Cambodian parents with a foreign passport, can obtain a free and permanent K visa. The visa entitles the holder to multiple entries and exits and is also available as a Visa on Arrival.
Official Visas (Type A, B, C)
In addition to these visa categories, there are also diplomatic visas (type A), official visas (type V) and an NGO visa (type C)
Tipping / bribery / fraud at the border
At some border crossings it can happen that supposedly official employees want to help with the visa application for a small fee. This is absolutely not necessary. Also the payment of “tips” to officials is not necessary at all. However, it is advisable to always remain calm and friendly even in such situations. Because in Asia, an aggressive or upset appearance – even under such circumstances – is not required.
